For any event you’re planning – from a client mixer to a corporate luncheon or an industry conference – the food you serve matters.
According to a recent survey conducted by Eventbrite, 80 percent of Americans are more likely to return to an event that served good food, and 74 percent will attend an event if they know the food will be good.
This means whether you’re looking to draw a crowd, or make sure your guests are happy, great food choices will get your attendees excited for your event, and looking forward to the next!
We encourage our clients to break from the expected corporate catering fare (e.g. continental breakfast and lunch boxes) and serve up something unexpected for a memorable experience.
Check out some tips from our Event Consultants for crafting a standout menu!
Choosing a theme for your corporate event is an excellent way to spark creativity! Holidays create a perfect opportunity to get creative. A fall meeting is prime for Oktoberfest-themed fare, and Cinco De Mayo is a great time for a taco or nacho bar.
Almost every day is some sort of holiday, so looking for lesser-known celebrations that coincide for your event can add some fun to the day. National Burger Day (May 28) is prefect for our “Chillin & Grillin” or “Backyard BBQ” picnic menus and National Brownie Day (Dec. 8) is an excellent occasion to add our “Piled High Brownie Station” to your lineup.
We worked with one client to create a Star Wars-themed buffet for an event they hosted on May the 4th (a play on the epic Star Wars quote, “May the Force be with you.”) The menu included “C-3POtatoes” and “R-2-Choke Dip” among other amusing dishes.
You can also opt for menu items that are relevant to your business. Made From Scratch has crafted international menu items representing different countries where a client’s company does business, or the countries from where they source products.
Plus, a theme can lend itself to your entire event and create opportunities to have fun with decor, activities and more.
Sometimes, just a touch of the unexpected can go a long way. If you know that breakfast or lunch standards are favorites among your guests, then make sure to serve them what they love (and add fun with a new item or two to the mix).
Or, adding unusual items like Made From Scratch’s handmade mini pop-tarts, cheese stuffed tots or roasted pineapple can leave a lasting impression. Our event coordinators recommending adding some whimsy with an experiential option, like a Shaken Lemonade Station, S’mores Station or Grilled Quesadilla Station.
Opting to eat local is a great environmental choice, and it gives you the opportunity to highlight the fresh, seasonal ingredients in your area.
Made From Scratch works with many Ohio vendors, and offer their fresh ingredients and our recipes with our menu suggestions whenever possible, like our “Strawberry Pecan Salad” when strawberries are ripe and juicy in the summertime and delicious “Caprese Skewers” and salads July through September when fresh grown tomatoes and basil are at their peak.
Some other local ingredients that we regularly incorporate into our recipes include: Micro Greens, Ohio Tomato Jam, Tomato preserves, Sweet Corn, Blueberries, Swiss and Goat Cheese, Ohio Port Wine Vinaigrette and Ohio Pork Loin.
Talk to your caterer about local and seasonal options to add variety to the standard corporate menu!
If you’re ready for something new, but aren’t sure where to start, ask your caterer for help! At Made From Scratch, our talented Event Coordinators and Designers customize each event to your specific needs, and can offer suggestions to spice up your event.
And unexpected elements don’t need to be limited to food! Made From Scratch crafts experiences that engage all the senses, and has vendor relationships that can offer interactive experience for your guests, such as live music, carnival games or a magician.
